What European guidance says

In January 2026 the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) published its advice: doxyPEP is not meant for everyone, but doctors can offer it to people at high risk of STIs, mainly to prevent syphilis. That is exactly how it is prescribed here: one pack, after a doctor's check. Compare all advice in doxyPEP guidelines.

How to take it

Two tablets of 100 mg together, with a full glass of water, ideally within 24 hours and at the latest 72 hours after sex without a condom. Never more than 200 mg in 24 hours. All steps in how to take doxyPEP.

Keep testing, wherever you are

DoxyPEP lowers the risk of STIs, it does not remove it. Test every three months at a local clinic, or with a home test where available.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order doxyPEP in English from anywhere in Europe?
Yes, from anywhere in the European Union. We deliver to all 27 EU countries. The questionnaire, the instructions and the contact with the doctor are all in English.
Do I need a prescription for doxyPEP in Europe?
Yes. Doxycycline is prescription-only in every EU country. When you order, a licensed EU doctor checks your answers and prescribes it if it is safe for you.
Is doxyPEP recommended in Europe?
The European ECDC advises doxyPEP on an individual basis for people at high risk of STIs, mainly to prevent syphilis. Advice and availability differ per country. See the overview of doxyPEP guidelines.
Why not just ask my local doctor?
You can, and for STI testing you should keep seeing a clinic. But many GPs in Europe are not familiar with doxyPEP yet, appointments can take weeks, and not everyone feels comfortable discussing it in another language.
